The person behind MWL
Hello, I’m Leon.
I’m a former Lead Teacher of Maths with around ten years’ experience in secondary education. I also hold a First Class BSc in Computer Science.
Over the years, I have seen capable pupils work hard without knowing exactly what to practise next. I created Maths With Leon to replace that uncertainty with a clear diagnosis, carefully ordered teaching and visible progress.
The goal is not to make maths look effortless. It is to make the next step understandable and achievable.
Experience across the GCSE range
I’ve taught pupils at every kind of starting point.
Across nearly ten years in secondary schools, I’ve taught maths in very different school environments and worked with pupils with very different starting points and goals.
I’ve taught pupils aiming for Grades 8 and 9 who needed to be challenged and pushed further. I’ve taught pupils around Grades 4 and 5 who had the ability but needed gaps identified, foundations strengthened and confidence built. And I’ve taught pupils who found maths difficult, lacked confidence and genuinely didn’t believe they could pass.
They don’t all need the same teaching. That’s one of the reasons Maths With Leon starts by finding out what a pupil can already do, where the gaps may be and what they need to work on next.

The aim is to build knowledge, confidence and exam technique steadily over time rather than leaving everything until the final few months of Year 11.

Why I built Maths With Leon
Bringing teaching back in a different way.
After leaving classroom teaching, I went on to build and run several businesses. But teaching maths was always something I enjoyed, and Maths With Leon has given me the opportunity to bring that experience back in a different way.
I wanted to keep the parts of teaching I valued most: explaining difficult ideas clearly, spotting where understanding breaks down and helping pupils make genuine progress, while building a focused online programme around those things.
